SB20 - Won't Connect with Wireless!
If you ride indoors long enough, you will run into a situation where your SB20 won't wirelessly connect to your workout app. Here are my suggestions to get you back on the virtual road once again.
1. Power Off and On
Before Starting: Ensure the power brick is plugged in and the green LED is lit. Double check that the round plug from the power brick to the back of the bike is firmly inserted.
Let's start with the simplest solution: Power off/on everything. Unplug your bike. Wait 30 seconds for the power brick to drain and then restart. At the same time, restart your device (iPad, Apple TV, computer or phone) and your app (Zwift, IndieVelo. Rouvy etc.). Try connecting again. Also try using another app, including the Stages Cycling app.
Better yet! Add an on off switch to your bike. You will be glad you did.
2. Check Shifter Buttons
The SB20 will not start if any shifter button is pressed. To find buttons stuck in the down position: Unplug the connectors on both sides of the handlebar clamp.
Then try restarting the SB20. If you can now connect, one of the shifter buttons is stuck. To further isolate the problem: Reconnect each side, one at a time. Once you have determined the side causing the issue, clean all affected buttons with isopropyl alcohol.
3. Get a New Power Supply
It sounds drastic but power supply failure is surprisingly common. You'll need a 24 VDC 10A power brick. Buy on Amazon and you can return the power supply if it does not fix your problem.
Even if this does not fix your problem, having a spare power supply is a good idea.
4. Check connectors
Start with the connector under the front stem.
Then look at all circuit board connectors. See Stages SB20 - What's Inside?
Bonus Tip
Although it won't prevent the SB20 from connecting: Try changing your power meter batteries. See Stages Power Meter Battery Tips
